MODERNLEŞME SÜRECİNDE OSMANLI KADINLARININ EĞİTİMİYLE İLGİLİ BASINDA YER ALAN TARTIŞMALAR

Tanzimatâ€â„¢tan İkinci Meşrutiyetâ€â„¢e kadar izlenen politika ajandası, kadınların eğitim sisteminde de reformlar yapılmasını ön görmüştür. Tanzimat döneminde, beş yaşıyla altı yaş arası Müslüman kızların ilkokula gitmesinin zorunlu koşulması kadınların eğitimde açısından önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Bu önemli girişimlere Kız Rüştiyeleriâ€â„¢nin (1858) ve Darülmuallimatlarâ€â„¢ın (1870) bütün İstanbul ilinde açılmış olmaları eklenmiştir. Son olarak ise genç kızlar, Osmanlı devletinde 1915 yılında yükseköğrenime kabul edilmişlerdir. Bu eğitimdeki modernleşme hamleleri, Osmanlı entelektüelleri tarafından da yakından takip edilmiş ve basında tartışmalar ortaya çıkmıştır...

THE ARGUMENTS IN THE PRESS REGARDING OTTOMAN WOMENâ€â„¢S EDUCATION ISSUE DURING THE MODERNIZATION PROCESS

The political setting of the period from Tanzimat through to the end of the Second Meşrutiyet generated the reforms in the womenâ€â„¢s education system. Before and during Tanzimat period, Muslim girls aged five to six, could attend elementary schools came to play a significant role of female education. Important initiatives included Kız Rüştiyesi (Young Girl Junior School) opened in 1858 and the Darülmuallimat (Womenâ€â„¢s Teacherâ€â„¢s School) opened in 1870, all in İstanbul. Finally, women accepted to high education in 1915 in the Ottoman state. In addition to this modernization process, the intellectuals in Ottoman State paid close attention to these crucial steps in modernization process of education for women so the arguments occurred in the press...
